Jepoy (Jeffrey). Three year old Filipino dynamo and master show off. He only speaks Waray, but will entertain you by singing (in Tagalog) theme songs from Filipino soap operas. He picked up English phrases VERY quickly.

I guess this was the advance party for the Asgad welcome wagon. The kids seemed to be fascinated by the white guy with the camera.

Monterey Bay August 2009 : Mercy and I went to Monterey Bay, and Carmel for our first anniversary. We went to the Pebble Beach Golf courses, drove the famous 17 Mile Drive, and took the Pacific Coast Highway back to Los Angeles.

Wood Family Reunion June 14, 2009. It was a celebration of Grandma P's 90th birthday, and happened to be Uncle LeRoy's 71st birthday as well. All but 4 of the grandchildren and their families attended, totaling almost 100 people. :

Manila, Luzon, Philippines 2008 : These photographs were taken during our August 2008 trip to the Philippines. It was the first trip to the Philippines for Kenneth, Kristoffer, and me. My wife Mercedes (Mercy) had not been home in 16 years.
It was monsoon season, so we had plenty of cloud cover and rain on top of the heat and humidity!
I was disappointed that we didn't get to visit Corregidor, but it was "low season" and the tours weren't given on the days we were in Manila.
I didn't just want to take "touristy" pictures, but I also tried to take photos of the extremes of every day life in the Philippines, the people and the culture.

Leyte & Samar Islands, Philippines : These photos were taken in Tacloban and Palo, Leyte, and the island of Samar in the towns of Salcedo, Guiuan, and the village of Asgad. These towns are on a peninsula at the extreme southern part of Eastern Samar, bordering Leyte Gulf and the Philippine Sea. The Philippine trench is just off Samar, and is the second deepest part of the Pacific Ocean.

Southern Luzon; Quezon and Laguna areas (Philippines.) : The Quezon and Laguna areas are on Luzon Island, about 2 hours south of Manila. It is primarily an agricultural area.

Our Philippine Wedding : Mercy and I were married at the Oasis Resort near Guiuan, Eastern Samar on August 17, 2008. The wedding took place during her family reunion, and was the day after the annual Asgad Fiesta. Although it was monsoon season and the skies were overcast most days, for some reason on our wedding day the cloud cover disappeared and the sun came out bright and HOT!
